The product manager must have knowledge of competitive products, new technologies and customers within their product area. Job Description

Location: Southampton, PA

Title: Product Manager
Department: Product Management
Reports To: VP of Operations

SUMMARY

This position exists to support designated product lines within the Schiller Grounds Care business. The product manager is responsible for managing, developing and maintaining assigned product lines within certain business segments. The product manager must have knowledge of competitive products, new technologies and customers within their product area. The ideal product manager would have experience with consumer or commercial durables, be able to lead cross-functional teams (without direct reporting authority), have proven project management and product development skills, have the ability to effectively manage product line P&Ls, and have excellent communications/presentation skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO

  • Develop and maintain a clear understanding of customer needs and the jobs they are doing.
  • Lead product teams to develop innovative products to leapfrog competition and grow the business

    Manage projects to meet timeline and cost targets

    Develop new product specifications and follow product from initial development to launch to ensure customer needs are met and exceeded.

    Develop forecasts and pricing to enhance sales and margins and maintain a competitive product line

    Work with purchasing to negotiate with OEM suppliers on costs, exclusivity agreements, and product features.

    Responsible for managing the OEM suppliers (with purchasing and engineering) to adhere to product and business commitments.

    Responsible for maintaining: product availability and costs, competitive analysis, historical and current market trends, defining customers and channels to reach them.

    Responsible for the parts management pertaining to their respective product line, which includes, but is not limited to, SKU management, compliance and obsolescence margin and pricing, inventory management, order and backlog management and forecasting.

    Assist sales team with product line presentations to key customers.

    Assist Marketing in developing marketing programs, advertising, direct mail pieces, and literature specific to product line.

    Participate in trade-shows, dealer meetings, and other similar events

    Work with Technical Customer Service to develop product manuals, technical bulletins, training programs, new product roll-outs

    Communicate all pertinent product information through all channels: customer service, technical service, sales, dealers and target market customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • BS/BA in marketing, business, or engineering required with 5+ years in product or marketing management.
  • Knowledge and comfort with internet and social media tools to communicate with end users

    Excellent written and oral communication skills

    Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

    Strong analytical ability to gather and interpret information

    Strong leadership skills, able to work with multi-disciplined teams at various levels.

    Possesses a take charge attitude with high level of self-motivation, and the ability to successfully operate in a matrix environment.

    Experience with Asian sourcing and vendor relationships.
